Matthew Brandt (American, b. 1982) is an experimental photographer incorporating traditional and often antiquated techniques and materials to create images that straddle figuration and abstraction, while celebrating the physical aspect of making a photograph. Brandt's has his first solo museum exhibition at the Columbus Museum of Art and the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art in 2014. His work is included in permanent collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York) J. Paul Getty Museum (Los Angeles), Cincinnati Art Museum and National Museum of Photography (Copenhagen). Brandt received his BFA from The Cooper Union in New York and his MFA from UCLA. Brandt is represented by Yossi Milos Gallery, New York and currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
